William "Bill" Neikirk

Bill Neikirk died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 8, 2017. He was 62.

A person could have no better friend than Bill. He was a free spirit with a generous heart. Bill loved to have a good time with others - golfing, skiing, barbequing, watching sports, talking and traveling. A hard worker of great skill, he put down hundreds of acres of floor coverings during his career, making friends all along the way while doing so. The person most important to Bill was his wife, Vicki. They were partners both in work and in life. It was Vicki who brought out Bill's loving side. Their devotion to and acceptance of each other created a wonderful marriage apparent to all who knew them.

Bill was born on December 30, 1954, in Greenwich, Connecticut to John Orr Neikirk and Doris Ebling Neikirk. He graduated with a BA degree from the University of Denver and lived his adult life first in Vail, Colorado, and then in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Bill is survived by his wife, Victoria Long Neikirk, of Bluffton; two siblings, Nancy Neikirk Budington (Robert) of Simsbury, Connecticut, John Orr Neikirk Jr. (Hope) of Scotia, New York; and several cousins, neices and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Anne Neikirk.

A reception in Bill's honor will be hosted by Vicki and Bill's siblings from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, this Thursday, October 12, in Sun City. All are welcome to attend at the Lake House, 1251 Sgt. William Jasper Boulevard, Bluffton, SC 29909.
