William (Bill) Robinson - Passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 4th, 2011, in his 88th year. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Sis) Robinson, and his five daughters, Helen Ann Robinson, Eileen Moore, Elizabeth Lorenzen, Alyce Robinson and Regina Robb. He will be sadly missed by his sons-in-law Dennis Robinson, Bill Moore, Bill Lorenzen and Bruce Robb. Loving grandfather to Brian and Elizabeth Moore, Brendan and Marnie Robinson, Erin and Brian Wallace, Paul Lorenzen and Tom Lorenzen. Great grandfather to Zoe and Brody Moore, Natalie and Makayla Robinson and Alice Wallace.Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1922 and grew up in Queens. As a boy he loved to play ice hockey and baseball, and cheered for the Rangers and the Jets. As a part of the Big Red One, the 1st Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, Bill fought in World War II, in North Africa, the invasion of Sicily and was part of the first wave landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He received a Bronze Star for bravery during the offensive across France, and a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest.He retired from Warner Transportation after working in dispatch for 37 years, and moved with Helen, to Kingston, New York. Bill enjoyed being a member of the Kingston Lions Club. In 2010, he and Helen moved to Hilton Head to enjoy the sun and beach. Visitation will be held Wednesday night, from 6 - 8 PM, April 6th, at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 7, 2 PM, at St. Francis By The Sea Church, Hilton Head Island.
