William Lee Smith

William Lee Smith, age 87 of Grays, SC and widower of Johnnie Mixson Smith passed away on February 2, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Bill was born in Ridgeland, SC on February 15, 1933 to the late Joe Lee Smith and Nora Elizabeth Smith.

Bill was a retired Civil Service employee at the Marine Corps Air Station; retired US Air Force Master Sergeant who served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He was a member and Deacon with the Beaver Dam Baptist Church.  He enjoyed farming, hunting and especially enjoyed fishing.

The family wishes to extend their special gratitude and appreciation to his care giver, Susan Jones and Crescent Hospice.

In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his nine brothers and sisters;  and his beloved granddaughter, Chasity.

Bill is survived by his sons, Sherwood Warren Smith (Robin) of Grays, SC and Keith William Smith (Merideth) of Grays, SC; his daughter, Lisa Elliott (Warren) of Grays, SC; his grandchildren, Josh, Warren, Jacob, Elisha, Adam-Lee Smith, Tangie, and Christina; several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, February 5, 2021 in the Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery, following recommendations regarding COVID-19. It would be helpful if all would bring an outdoor chair for your comfort and in order to practice social distancing.  Masks are also requested.
