William Gordon Wells

William Gordon Wells, 84 of Tillman, SC passed away on June 1, 2016 at Coastal Carolina Hospital, Hardeeville, SC. Gordon was born in Ridgeland, SC on August 21, 1931 to the late Henry Bradley Wells and Matilda Ruth Coleman Wells. Gordon was a Plantation manager, Conservationist and owner of Wells Supply Company. Gordon served as an appointed District Commissioner of the Jasper Soil and Water Conservation District (JSWCD) in Jasper County since 1976. Gordon was a devoted member of the Tillman Methodist Church; Sunday School Teacher and loved Jesus Christ. Gordon was an avid outdoorsman – his passion was turkey hunting; a member of the South Carolina National Guard; Board Member Jasper County Farm Bureau; pioneer alligator conservationist for the Lowcountry District under license from the Department of Natural Resources with a specialty in relocation; weather prognosticator for WBUG Radio; loved his family and friends. Motto at Wells Supply – If we don’t have it, you don’t need it. Gordon is survived by his wife, Dale Finney Wells of Tillman, SC; his sons, Ted Dewey Wells (Pam) of Hilton Head Island, SC and Stan Wells (Linda) of Gillisonville, SC; his daughters, Connie Wells of Tillman, SC and Marie A. Wells (Robert Branham) of Columbia, SC; his brother, John L. Wells (Celesta) of Asheboro, NC; his sisters, Sara W. Tillery of Evans, GA and Mary F. Wells of Augusta, GA; and one grandson, Percy M. “Kip” Berry IV of Columbia, SC. Gordon was predeceased by his brothers, Henry Bradley Wells Jr. and Lewis Thomas Wells. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 am, Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Floyd Cemetery, Tillman, SC. Memorials may be sent to the Blue Heron Nature Center, 321 Bailey Lane, Ridgeland, SC 29936.

Directions to Floyd Cemetery - From Hardeeville - Highway 321/Deerfield Road approximately 12 miles turn right on Floyd Road. 1/2 mile turn left at Floyd Cemetery sign (dirt road).

From I95 exit 21 in Ridgeland - Highway 336 through Ridgeland (two red lights, cross railroad track, pass Post Office, stay right at fork in road) approximately 5 miles turn left on Floyd Road (St. Mary's Church); approximately 1 mile to Floyd Cemetery sign on right (dirt road).
