WalkerRidgeland, SCWoodrow Wilson Walker, 95, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, SC.Woodrow was born in Algood, TN on November 18, 1916 to the late Willie Lee and Lou Anna Riddle Walker. Walker was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy. He served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict from 1939 until 1959. Following his retirement from the Navy, Woodrow was self employed. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid airplane enthusiast. He is survived by five step-children, Carl (Susan) Malphrus, Irwin (Pat) Malphrus, Charles (Bernice) Malphrus, Bernard Malphrus, John (Rhonda) Malphrus; one sister, Joan (Clifford) Rogers and many grandchildren, great grand children, nieces and nephews. Woodrow was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Malphrus Walker and one brother, Thurlow Walker. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Great Swamp Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the hour of service at the church.Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family with their arrangements. (saulsfh.com)
