Wyman Douglas Nettles

November 18, 1921 — January 19, 2008

Wyman Douglas Nettles, 86, passed away January 19, 2008. He was born in Yemassee, SC on November 18, 1921, and lived most of his life in Ridgeland, SC. He was a member of Ridgeland Baptist Church where, over the years, he was a Deacon, Sunday School Director, and Sunday School teacher. He was a Past Master Mason and a member of the American Legion.Douglas served in the U.S. Army Air Force, the Air Force Reserve, and the South Carolina Army National Guard where he was one of the original members of the unit at Ridgeland. On April 7, 1945, while stationed in San Francisco as the Non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge at the Oceanic Air Traffic Control Center, he and Florrie Catterton of Ridgeland were married. Douglas joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1946 and retired as Postmaster in 1977. He was Ridgeland
