Alfred Emanuel Jennings

JENNINGS,Alfred E (Al) of Bluffton, formerly of Roslyn Heights  NY died suddenly on November 5 in his home. Beloved husband for 61 years of the late  Dolores Magee ,father of Patrick, Lynn  (Bradley)Taylor; and predeceased by son Robert Emmet. Cherished grandfather of Deirdre and Sean Jennings and Lauren and Kathleen Taylor, father-in law of Catherine Cronin and Gramps to Shane Bannon and Vien Cheung-Jennings.

Raised in Ireland in his formative years. Former Director of Community Relations fo Brooklyn Union Gas Co. for 44 years and the Brooklyn Eagle newspaper for 10 years. He was Executive Director for Downtown Brooklyn Development Association, and Originator of the Cinderella Program for redevelopment of Brownstone communities in Brooklyn long before any received historic designations. He was a consummate fundraiser for worthy causes such as American Red Cross, Rotary, YMCA, Jr Chamber of Commerce Mercy Home, his alma mater St. John’s University, and JohnPaul ll Catholic school.

Past Grand Knight of the JW Mackey K of C and SriKnight of Kellenberg Assembly.Associated with the Boy Scouts for more than 60 years Active in Irish heritage organizations, Past Grand Marshall of the Brooklyn St. Patrick’s day parade and member of the Galway Association and Irish Heritage Society. A US NAVY WWII vet, member of Post. #. 205 American Legion and Knights of Columbus Council 12263 and Rev Mychal Judge Assembly of 4th degree Knights.

Visiting hours at St. Gregory the Great  Bluffton, Friday 3 pm-6pm, and Mass of Christian burial Saturday Nov.9 at 11 am..
