Amanda Douglass Obituary

Amanda Douglass passed away at the young age of 43 after a long battle with breast cancer.  Her husband and son were with her when she passed.

Amanda was born on May 30, 1979 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Douglas and Marcia (Payne) Woodyard. She grew up in East Liverpool and Salem, Ohio. She graduated from Salem High School  in 1997 before earning a degree in 2000 from Kent State (Salem Campus).

She moved to Bluffton, SC in 2001 to pursue her career at Hilton Head Hospital as a radiologic technologist. This is when she met the love of her life Clinton, they married in 2004. Their son Nathaniel was born in 2005 on Clinton’s birthday.

Recently, she and Clinton shared their 19th anniversary together. They married on February 29th.  She liked to celebrate on the Feb 28th during non-leap years and he preferred March 1st.

The Lord was her light and it was evident to all who knew her. Truth was her pursuit and it made her wise beyond her years.

Her hobbies included oil painting, birdwatching, cooking and writing. She always dreamed of writing books for children. She loved cats and left behind two naughty ones for us to love. Her pursuit in learning biblical Hebrew was finished as she met the Lord himself, maybe she still continues to learn each day in Heaven.

From hip hop to gospel she had great taste in music, just ask her, and she knew the lyrics to Ice, Ice Baby. Her two favorite songs were Waymaker by Sinach and Glen Campbell’s Gentle on My Mind.

Amanda left the medical field in 2014 to homeschool her son Nathaniel, he graduates this year. She was able to see her efforts come to fruition during an early graduation ceremony held in her hospice room, organized by Nathaniel’s teachers and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, husband and son she is survived by her sister Tara Renee Schurdell of Santa Fe, NM, brother Jonathan Douglas Woodyard of Kettering, OH and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
