Daughter of the late Claretha B. Graham and Mr. Ernest Pinckney (Maryland), Arlaine Elaine Battiste-Bolden was born on October 25, 1953 in Ridgeland, SC. Ms. Arlaine, was educated in the Jasper County School System. She graduated from Ridgeland High School, Class of 1971.
Ms. Arlaine, 69 years old, of Ridgeland, South Carolina, passed away at her residence on Friday among love ones.
Ms. Arlaine loved worshiping the Lord. When Ms. Arlaine was younger, she joined New Zion Baptist Church, Ridgeland, SC under the leadership of Rev J.R White. In her later years, she joined Gospel Lighthouse Church.
She enjoyed reading, writing, spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, cooking (sometimes for large gatherings), fishing, and spending time with family and friends (who would usually end up becoming extended family to her). Many people would agree that the food she cooked was beyond delicious—especially her dressing, mac n cheese, fish fry's with grits and hushpuppies, banana pudding, cakes, pies, etc.
She leaves to cherish her fondest memories: Her father, Ernest Pinckney; Siblings, Virginia Battiste of Beaufort, SC and Karen (Alfred) of Ridgeland, SC; Daughters, Latoya (Charles) of Ridgeland, SC and Aisha Bolden of Ridgeland, SC; Adopted Son, David Battiste of Ridgeland, SC; Godson, Ronnie Bolden of Columbia, SC; God Daughter Ronnell (Peter) of Levy, SC; Five Grandchildren, Jocarius, Malenniah (SuperStar Grandchild), Joquan, Carlton and Caleb; Two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Londyn; Four Nieces; Eight Grandnieces; Seven Grandnephews; Aunt Lue E. Bostick of Ridgeland, SC; Special Niece Shalmar Battiste of Ridgeland, SC; Special neighbor Bernard Campbell of Ridgeland, SC; Good friends Mae Burrison of Ridgeland, SC and Marvin Bolden of Ridgeland, SC. We deeply appreciate the Caris Hospice team and Mrs. Kendra.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 20, 2023 at Gospel Lighthouse Church, Carters Mill Rd, Ridgeland with burial to follow in Button Cemetery.
