Arlene Teresa (Ahearn) Wales, age 78 of Bluffton, South Carolina passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Hilton Head Hospital. She was the wife of Kenneth R. Wales.
She was born in Yonkers, New York on February 8, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Teresa Ahearn. She was predeceased by her brother Father Kieran Ahearn.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her sister Lee Almeida; children Kevin (Amy), Chris (Cameron), Kim, and Ken; and grandchildren, Parker, Ben, Jake, Lizzy, Brady, Alex, Abby, Charlie, and Charlotte.
Arlene attended Sacred Heart Grade School and High School in Yonkers, New York. After high school, Arlene attended Cochran School of Nursing where she earned her nursing degree and became a registered nurse. Arlene began her nursing career at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, New York. After a brief break from nursing to raise her four children, Arlene returned to work at Danbury Hospital where she worked for 22 years before retiring.
Arlene enjoyed sewing, knitting, vacationing and gatherings with friends and families. Arlene loved her retired life in Sun City and filled her days playing cards, Irish dancing, stamping, and shopping.
There will be a funeral mass at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church, 31 Saint Gregory Drive, Bluffton, SC 29909 on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, Post Office Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910.
