Arlys H. Mason, 80, of Bluffton, SC passed peacefully December 14, 2020 at her home. She was born June 11, 1940 in Sioux City, IA to the late Wilbur J. and Bessie Bergen Harvey. Mom was also preceded in death by her first daughter, Stephanie Jo. Parry (1973) and her second husband, Gorby C. Mason (2002).

Arlys was wicked smart and highly motivated. She co-owned a very successful dress shop in the 70’s. When that was sold, she obtained her real estate license and worked for Century 21 for several years. Arlys then got a job as secretary to the Dean of the University of South Dakota Law School. She moved to Dallas, TX where she worked as a paralegal for Justice Mortgage and eventually ended up working for Bank of America as a Vice President in Compliance.

When Mom retired, she moved to Sun City Hilton Head in 2005. She was an avid bridge player, loved the arts, music and dancing. Mom thoroughly enjoyed hosting her friends and family for dinner. She set stunning tables.

Arlys is survived by her sister, JC Milner (Neil), daughters, Kristal Woehlke (Jim), Wendy Myers (Scott), seven grandchildren, two grandchildren-in-law, and three great-grandchildren. From her second marriage, a step-son, Mark Mason (Ling) and step-daughter, Monica Mason, and three grandchildren; also nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. We miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held for Arlys June 3, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Bluffton United Methodist Church, where she was a member. The Reverend Scarlett Hester will be officiating.
