Beatrice (Malphrus) Dean

Beatrice Malphrus Dean, 92, of Ridgeland, SC, widow of Claude E. Dean, Sr., passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 at her home.

Beatrice was born October 7, 1928 in Ridgeland to the late Dee Talmadge Malphrus and Josephine Hodges Malphrus. She worked at Palmetto Electric Co-Op. for many years. She was a loving, devoted daughter, wife, and mother, who through joy and pain carried herself with dignity and grace. 

Her family would like to thank the medical professionals at Agape Hospice and to recognize and give special thanks to her caregiver team: Felicia Rodgers, Margaret Williams, Patricia Robinson and Elvina Gordon, who brought their gifts of compassion, companionship and laughter into our lives. Their gifts are invaluable to us.

Beatrice is survived by her son, Richard L. Dean (Deborah) of Ridgeland; grandchildren, Michael R. Dean and Laura A. Dean (Erica), both of Mint Hill, NC; sister-in-law, Patricia Malphrus of Ridgeland and several beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Claude Dean, Jr., brothers, Lavaughn Malphrus and Marvin Malphrus.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 22, 2021 at Ridgeland Cemetery, Ingram St. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the hour of the service at the cemetery.
