Bernice Alston Logan was born on October 12, 1952 in Ridgeland, SC to the late Nathaniel Alston, Sr. and Juanita Williams Alston.
She obtained her formal education in the public school of Jasper County South Carolina. Later in life she joined the New Road Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board until her health failed.
She was gainfully employed at Sea Pines Plantation in Hilton Head Island, SC for many years. Bernice was a fun loving person who could attract people where ever she would go. She always made her presence known to whomever she was around. She was a Nana to the community. She loved cooking, gardening, shopping and traveling. She was famous for her Macaroni Salad, Tuna Salad and Chitterlings.
She leaves to cherish many fond memories: her husband, Peter Logan of Ridgeland, SC; two daughters, Veronica (Anton Sr.) Watson and Karen (Seaford) James of Ridgeland, SC; three sons, Peter Logan, Jr. of Ridgeland, SC, Kevin (Chanta) Lawrence of Elgin, SC, and Anthony Lawrence of Ridgeland, SC; one step-daughter Sheree Wright of Ridgeland, SC; ten grands, Shachovia (Roshandro) Cohen, Anton (Hylania) Watson, Jr., Aaron (Taniella) Watson, Keveon Logan, Sha Tashia James, Sha’Miyah James, all of Ridgeland, SC, Tiombie Burkes of Fayetteville, NC, Malachi Murphy, Malik China of Elgin, SC, and Tranika (Christopher) Robinson of Burton, SC and eleven great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Virginia Logan and sister-in-law, Lovenia Logan of Ridgeland, SC; brother-in-law, Mark Logan; She also leaves behind two sisters, Jeanette Alston and Betty Ann Alston, both of Ridgeland, SC; two aunts, Mary Johnson and Daisy Belle Alston; one uncle, Robert E. Alston; five aunt-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives and friends; special nephews Tyheim (Angel) Deloach, Karya (Keisha) Alston, Sherod Deloach and Remone Alston; special niece, Yomanika Alston, Monica Johnson and Angelica Alston; special cousins, Pauline Ferguson, Charlene Rivers, Priscilla Jenkins, Joyce Davie, Patricia Alston, Lucille Wright, Brenda Wright and Robert Drake; and God-son William (LP) Dupont and God-daughter Qwaneisha Matzen.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Nathaniel Alston, Sr. and a special nephew, Jermaine Alston.
Bernice will truly be missed but never forgotten and will always remain in our hearts forever.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Grahamville Cemetery.
