Brenda Darlene (DeVore) Rivers

Brenda Darlene DeVore Larry Rivers was born in Ridgeland, South Carolina on September 23, 1963. She was the daughter of Mr. Clayton Badese DeVore and the late Betty Solomon DeVore.

She was converted at an early age and joined Gillison Branch Baptist Church where she served as Deaconness and Trustee Board.

Brenda attended elementary school in Ridgeland, South Carolina and graduated in 1981 from Ridgeland High School with honors. After graduation, she matriculated at South Carolina State College (now University) in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1985.

She was employed by Wells Fargo on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for thirty-two years in the Trust Department.

Brenda was joined in holy matrimony to Louis Rivers on November 5, 2011. She was a loving, caring wife, daughter, sister and aunt. Brenda was very kind-hearted and generous, she was an avid reader and loved to cook.

Brenda was a member of Beaufort-Jasper Chapter of South Carolina State University National Alumni Association (SCSUNAA) and Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity.

On Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 6:26 pm at the Medical University of South Carolina, Brenda raised above all circumstances and conditions, being free and unbound, God summoned her into eternal rest.

Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, Adolph DeVore, sister, Deborah DeVore, husband, Eric Larry, mother, Betty DeVore and adopted daughter, Brittany DeVore.

Her legacy of love will be cherished by her husband, Louis Rivers, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; her father, Clayton Badese DeVore, of Pineland, South Carolina; adopted daughter, Betty DeVore, of Pineland, South Carolina; adopted son, Charles Jones, Jr., of Bluffton, South Carolina; sisters, Beverly Jones (Charles), of Pineland, South Carolina and Magalene DeVore of Hardeeville, South Carolina; brothers, Eric Devore (Vivian) of Hardeeville, SC and Paul Devore (Margaret) of Columbia, South Carolina; adopted mother, Ethel Rivers; special friends, Hilda Stevenson-Stewart, Deborah Govan, Hattie Mallory and Edna Driessen; and a host of uncles, aunts, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives, and extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Gillison Branch Baptist Church, 4591 Calf Pen Bay Road – Hwy 652, Pineland, South Carolina with Pastor Charles Wright officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Friday, September 21, 2018 at Gillison Branch Baptist Church. The family suggests memorial donations be made in Brenda’s honor to Mr. Clayton Badese DeVore, P.O. Box 132 Pineland, SC 29934.
