Brett Keisling of Hilton Head Island went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Memorial Health, where he lost his long hard battle with aggressive cancer. He was born in New Brunswick, NJ, on December 22, 1972, to Kenneth and Pearl (Henderson) Keisling.
Brett graduated with distinction and as an International Scholar from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Massachusetts, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received an exchange scholarship to spend his junior year studying at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland. While there, he concentrated in mechatronics and robotics at the ETH Robotics Institute. He also attended Goethe Institute, Konstanz, Germany, where he studied technical German. He carried out his degree qualifying project at NASA Lewis Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio, where he researched hot needle anemometry during his senior year.
Brett was a member of the WPI varsity soccer team and the Men’s 8-man Crew and a Christian Fellowship. After graduation, he worked in the manufacturing industry.
Brett was very much an outdoors person and loved skiing in the Alps and mountain climbing there. He considered Switzerland his adopted home and could never get enough Swiss potato rosti.
Besides his parents, his brother Brad and wife Rebecca survive, and their five children, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dawn Renee’.
Brett desired that everyone have their own Bible and often bought Bibles for friends with their names engraved on them.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the doctors, nurses, and other care teams on Hilton Head Island and at Coastal Carolina Hospital, MUSC, Hollins Cancer Center, and Memorial Health-Savannah.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, Saturday, October 2,2021 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC with funeral services at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Lowcountry Memorial Gardens.
