Bridgette “Ida” Power Stannish, age 102, of Bluffton, SC for the last 20 years and formerly of Kissimmee, FL and Long Island, NY died October 9, 2020 at Bloom of Belfair.
Mrs. Stannish was born on September 28, 1918 in Newfoundland, the daughter of the late Charles and Rosie O’Rourke Power. As a young wife and mother she opened her home to an adoption agency and ran a boarding house, caring for many children. She later began a career with General Dynamics, retiring after many years of service as a supervisor. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, knitting, reading, and playing cards. While living in Bluffton she was a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
Mrs. Stannish was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, John Michael Stannish. She is survived by her daughters, Rita DePasquale (John), Rosanne Collins (Bob), Bernadette Magaldi (Frank), and Christine Weller; sisters, Maisie Murphy and Bernadette Doody; 10 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Pregnancy Center & Clinic of the Low Country.
