Obituary

C. Alan Skinner, 81, of Sun City Hilton Head, SC, formerly of Bloomfield, NJ, died peacefully at home surrounded by his close family on Monday, September 11, 2023.

Alan was born and lived in Bloomfield, NJ, for 66 years before moving to SC. Alan worked for the Newark Star-Ledger for 40 years, retiring in December 2006. He was a member of and an office holder of the Newark Typographical Union #103. Alan received his AA from Essex County College and a degree from St. Joseph’s School of Nuclear Medicine. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Martha Skinner; his loving children, MaryJane Smith, and Robert Skinner; son-in-law, Tim Smith, and grandchildren, Taylor Randleman, Casey Randleman, and T.J. Smith.

Interment will be held at Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, NJ. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family with arrangements.
