Carol (Bransfield) Carter, 77, of Sun City Hilton Head passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, surrounded by family at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital, Savannah, GA.
Carol was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late D. Joseph and Marie (Schneider) Bransfield. She grew up in Reisterstown, Maryland and graduated from Franklin High School, Class of 1961.
She worked in the banking and medical industries. She enjoyed making greeting cards, playing board games, traveling and being with her family and friends. Carol will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Carol was a generous, kind, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Edward Carter, son Damon J. Hammersla and his wife Gina of Parkton, MD; three grandchildren, Kara Hammersla of Baltimore, MD, Amanda Hammersla of Washington, D.C. and Carter Hammersla of Baltimore, MD; and a sister, Jean Savage of Tampa, FL. She was predeceased by her first husband, James R. Hammersla and son Steven C. Hammersla.
A celebration of life will take place from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Riverbend Lodge 39 Tide Watch Drive Bluffton, SC 29909. Arrangements are being made for a celebration of life in Maryland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
