Christina Gufler Obituary

It is with great sadness that an “angel on earth”, Christina (Chris) died on October 25, 2019. Chris is survived by her mother Isabel Farias DeMars of Bluffton, SC. and four brothers Robert Gufler (Guf) of San Francisco, William (Billy) DeMars of Atlanta Georgia with his wife Jocelyn Cubbon DeMars and their 3 daughters, Jason DeMars of Englewood, Co, and Ryan DeMars of Dallas, Texas with one son Weston. Additionally, Chris had numerous aunts and uncles, and cousins throughout the US and Europe. Her father Werner Gufler of Solden, Austria has passed on May 2017 which had left a large hole in Chris’ fragile heart. It is appropriate to note two other pertinent father-figures within her short lifetime who loved and cared for her a different times of her life. Both William (Bill ) DeMars and Michael Gross of Wisconsin provided Chris with unconditional love and support. Also Chris loved and shared a deep, genuine friendship with her best friend Jimmy Nicholls of Atlanta, Georgia—a friend anyone would ask to stand by their side.

Chris was described as a person who put everyone else first. As a Registered Nurse, Chris devoted her time and knowledge to helping people both physically and emotionally support. She had numerous jobs and responsibilities in various areas of nursing, but always had a passion to help the unfortunate and special needs persons. As a psych nurse, and recently employed at Georgia Southern Regional Hospital of Savannah, Chris was loved and admired by her peers. She unselfishly put many people ahead of her needs.

One would never hear Christina boast about her own accomplishments and beating great challenges in her life. She would rather listen to how another person successfully met their challenges or how she could help them. Chris was never wanting to be in the lime light, but rather, she was the “wind beneath the wings” of those that needed lifting. She was truly a wonderful person loved by many.

Chris loved her dog Heidi and all dogs. Ensuring Heidi was always taken care of during her work day was her primary concerns. “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”

Chris was true to her religion and faith. She believed there is a good place for us and that our pain on earth is diminished once we are in God’s arms. She believed she would see her dad again and he would be pain free and telling his hokey stories—some true and not so true. Chris was a humble and forgiving person, one that wanted to please and make others happy.
