Darlene Schramm

Darlene Schramm passed away at the age of 55 years old on 11/07/19 at 10:15AM due to complications from a stroke with her son Travis by her side.

Darlene may have been born in San Diego but she categorized herself as a beaufortonian since she has lived here the good majority of her life. She has many siblings biological and adopted in her heart. Everywhere she went she made friends, would talk to just about anyone and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Her love for animals was on a guardian angel level. Always there to help an animal in need or provide it a home, her door was open. The amount of lives she touched goes above and beyond what anyone would imagine. Her love for animals transitioned to working with them so she was always working at different vet’s offices and shelters. Her most know was Custom K9 Boarding and Training where she worked for 8 years, becoming friends with all the animals, the owners loved her because she treated their animals with such care and love while they were away. Even difficult animals she managed to gain their trust and love.

She married Donald Schramm twice, they couldn’t stay away from each other. She had 2 daughters that were lost before her marriage, Rachelle and Jessica. In 2015 she got a memorial tattoo for them of a butterfly with pink and purple coloring for the 2 of them.  After loosing her first 2 children they told Darlene she could never have children, but in 1992 she was blessed with her miracle baby, the light of her life Travis Schramm; Aged 27 now. They have been inseparable ever since, they had a ritual to go out for breakfast every Wednesday and Lunch every Friday. Anything Travis wanted she would go above and beyond to get it for him, even if she went without. That’s how strong Darlene loved.

We may have lost her too soon but she will always be in our hearts and we know she is keeping her beloved animals and lost family members company with her love and jokes.
