David Hathaway Clark, age 80, died October 30, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Noaker Clark, his 4 children and their families: Charles and Melissa (Weers) Clark and their daughter Elise, of Monroe, GA; Deborah (Clark) and Paul Batchelder of Jackson, MI and their children Kristin (Batchelder) and Randy Boratyn, of Sylvania, OH, Andrew and Sara (Maitlen) Batchelder of Canyon Country, CA, Robert (Batchelder) and Jessica Hala of Atlanta, GA; Steve and Susie (Rowlett) Clark of Bartlesville, OK, and their children Nicole (Clark) and Nathan Paulson and their daughter Elizabeth of Prairie Village, KS, Rebecca (Clark) and Ryan Lanz of Washington, D.C. and Robert Clark of Bartlesville, OK; Connie Clark and her children Evan and Daniel Clark-Shinn of Marshall, NC; sister in-law and her husband Nancy and Charles Bivenour of Scottsdale, AZ, brother in-law and his wife Dr. Frederick and Jeanne Lavender of Chipley, FL; and their nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lyman and Mary Clark and step-mother Cam Clark, and sister Mary Ann Clark Lavender.David was born in Canton, OH on June 9, 1928, and graduated from Lehman High School in 1945. He earned his BS ME degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1949 and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduating, Dave returned to Canton and went into business with his father at the Lyman H. Clark Packard Agency from 1949-1956. In 1956 Dave joined Republic Steel Corporation in Canton, OH as a student trainee and rose to become the Executive Vice President. After retiring from Republic Steel Corporation in 1984 he became president of McClouth Steel in Trenton, MI from 1986-1988. He was also on the Board of Directors for Lesco, INC.After his final retirement he and Barb moved to Brays Island Plantation where he was the first Chairman of the Board. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, shooter, golfer, bridge player, volleyball player and outdoorsman who dearly loved his wilderness camping trips to the Quetico in Minnesota and Canada.A private memorial service for family will be held at Brays Island Plantation on Sunday, November 2nd at 3:30 pm.
