David Brian Nettles, 60, passed away peacefully on August 27th at MUSC after a hard fought battle with cancer. David died in the arms of his wife, Julie, with his older brother, Teddy, by his side. His battle against an aggressive cancer was fought with strength and purpose, and his primary focus was returning home to family.
When he knew his journey had come to an end, he had acceptance and inner peace. He knew he was going home to Jesus.
David was quintessential Lowcountry. He loved to fish and shrimp, hunt and trap. David worked with Club Car, and many golf carts around Bluffton have his mark on them.
In addition to his wife, Julie, David is survived by a son, Jesse, step-daughter, Jessica, granddaughters Layla Grace and Kaylen Rose; his brother Ted, Jr. (Janelle), sister Missy Wheeler (Tim), and his extended family Nita, Trina, and Amanda Parrish and Dempsey (deceased.) David was preceded in death by his son David Brian, and his father, Ted Allen Nettles, Sr.
A celebration of life will be held at the Bluffton Oyster Park on Sunday, September 12 from 3:00-5:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Layla Grace College Fund, c/o Julie Pye, Palmetto State Bank, 194 Bluffton Road, Bluffton, S.C. 29910.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the doctors and nurses and other care team at MUSC.
