Diane Dickler Obituary

Diane Dickler, age 69, of Sun City Hilton Head in Bluffton, SC and formerly of Lindenhurst, NY has left us to join God on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.

Mrs. Dickler was born on March 26, 1949 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late John and Matilda Pavlik. She was the oldest of 4 children with 2 sisters Joanne, and Suzanne, and a brother John Jr. She was a graduate of Midpark High School in Middleburg Heights, OH. Diane grew up in Middleburg Heights and Brook Park, OH, and worked alongside her Mother at Kirkwood Industries in Cleveland, operating a Broaching Machine. Later, while working at the Cunningham Drug Store soda fountain in Brook Park, met her future husband Andrew Nawrocki Sr.  Diane and Andrew eloped and moved to Long Island, New York, and were blessed with three children, Margaret, Wendy, and Andrew Jr. and she enjoyed being a wife and mother, and taking care of her family. For a short period of time, she was a Girl Scout leader, and attended her children’s various activities like soccer, figure skating, and other sporting activities.  She was an expert knitter, and ran a business where she and about 10 other women working for her, hand-knitted high-end sweaters for a sweater designer and manufacturer, Amy Panzel, in New York City. She then worked in Amityville, New York as an Administrative Assistant for Napco Security Systems.

Her marriage to Andrew ended, and shortly thereafter met who was to become her husband of over 25 years, Ronald.  Ron had two children from a previous marriage, William and Julie, whom she welcomed and became very close to as their newly found family. Between the 5 children, she was proud of the eight grandchildren presented to her, Kristina, Alexis, Cameron, Connor, Sydney, Luke, Desiree, and Ansley.

Diane went to work in the Marketing Department of Republic Electronics In Huntington/Hauppauge as an Administrative Assistant, and eventually became the Executive assistant to the president of the company. While working, she went back to school at S.U.N.Y. Farmingdale, attending classes in Computer Programming and other Computer Technologies. Republic Electronics was sold to Microwave Power Devices (MPD), and then again to Ericsson.  She continued as Executive Administrator as each sale moved her to a new company president.  She was later given the responsibility of being the New York Manager of Ericsson’s International Intranet.  When Ericsson folded it’s NY offices, she home-studied Web Page Design, and ran her own business from home.  She also went to work as a Quality Assurance Administrator for Nassau Tool Works in Farmingdale, NY

She enjoyed bowling, becoming the first woman at Bayshore Bowl on Long Island to bowl a 296 game. She kept a beautiful home and tended to her vegetable garden and flower beds with meticulous care.  Her many friends were sad to see her retire and move to South Carolina in March of 2016. She was diagnosed with metastatic Cancer a few short months after arriving in Sun City.  She was dauntless, and although only given a year to live with treatment, Diane survived over 2 ½ years enjoying her retirement playing Billiards, Bocce, Bowling, and enjoying time with her sister-in-law JoAnn, Brother-n law Barry, and many friends from the several clubs to which she belonged. She will be missed by all.
