Donald Antonacio Obituary

Donald Robert Antonacio, 82, of Bluffton SC passed away on November 12, 2019 at his home in Sun City after a long illness with his family by his side.

On November 20, 2019, friends in South Carolina can share fond memories of him together at his place of residence in Sun City-Hilton Head between 12-4 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held sometime in December at Don’s hometown of Ambler, Pennsylvania at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ambler, PA. Burial will be private.

Don was born in Ambler, PA to George and Anne Antonacio on May 10, 1937. He was a graduate of Little Flower High School in Lansdale, PA. He was married to Sandra (Signore) Antonacio for 56 years. Don was a printer by trade and worked at Merck Pharmaceuticals for 39 years. He was an Army veteran and served in Korea for 3.5 years.

Don was always true his zodiac sign a Taurus. So, know for sure he didn’t leave this world without kicking and screaming. Don was forever known for cursing and he kept us laughing until the last few hours of his life with this dry sense of humor. He left his family with memories that they will cherish always--thinking to themselves with a smile on their face, “Can you believe he just said that?”

A car enthusiast and a Philadelphia Eagles fan forever—Saturdays were spent waxing his car and Sundays were always for football.

Before he became ill, Don loved the beach. He was forever tanning --laying on his back, stomach and sides so he would get tan underneath his arms. Sandy would always joke about how he was tanning, but he didn’t mind cause Don did what he wanted, when he wanted.

Later in life, Don took up the hobby of making Christmas ornaments for his and his children’s Christmas trees. These unique ornament kits were bought at a shop in Bucks County, PA called The Cracker Box. Sandy will be picking up sequins, pins and needles off the floor for a long time. As a pin in pokes her foot, you can guarantee that she will look up to the heavens and say hi to him and the angels.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, George and Anne Antonacio and his brothers, George Antonacio and Ralph Antonacio.

Don is survived his wife, Sandra. Not only were they married for 56 years, but also she was his caretaker for the past 6 years.  He is also survived by his children, Donald Paul (Sharon) Antonacio of Ft. Washington, PA and Karen (Craig) Oliver of Hollywood, MD.  Don leaves behind five grandchildren, Donald Jack (DJ), Cassie, Cathryn, Kenna Rose and Caroline.

Memorials contributions may be given to Dragon Boat Beaufort, PO Box 213, Beaufort, SC 29909.

The family of Don wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Paul Long for the care he gave Don for many years as well as Amedisys Hospice for being there in the time of need.
