Doris Mallard Blackmon

Doris Mallard Blackmon, widow of William Dempsey (W.D.) Blackmon, Jr., of Okatie, SC died Wednesday,  January 13th, 2021  at NHC Health Care, Bluffton, SC..

Doris was born on December 2, 1929 in Smoaks, SC, the daughter of the late William Daniel Mallard and Gertrude Hucks Mallard.  She was a graduate of Beaufort High School. Doris and W. D. were married for 67 years.  With her husband and two sons, she made a home in Ridgeland where she worked for the Jasper County Board of Education at Ridgeland Elementary School for over twenty years.  Doris was a long time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ridgeland.

Doris (Dorsie/Mimi/Great Mimi) was well loved by her family. She is survived by two sons, William (Puggy) Blackmon, III (Gail) of Blythewood, SC and Randy Blackmon (Dayle) of Hardeeville, SC, grandchildren Kyle Blackmon (Kim) of Bluffton, SC, Chelsea Blackmon White (Joe) of Okatie, SC, Ashley Blackmon Jones (Jared) of Blythewood, SC, Tate Blackmon (Randi) of Blythewood, SC, and Jordan Blackmon of Santa Monica, California; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Sunday, January 17th, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery in Beaufort, SC. The family will receive friends one half hour prior to service at Evergreen Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
