Doris Kammerer Obituary

Doris Elizabette Kammerer, formerly of Willingboro and Beachwood, New
Jersey; passed into Eternity on October 22, 2023 at her home in Bluffton,
SC.


Doris was born December 29, 1935 to Joseph and Clara Bugle Dassbach in
Newark, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65
years, Allan McKee Kammerer, and her son, Kurt Kammerer of San Diego,
California. Doris is survived by three sons and their wives: Kevin (Lorraine)
Kammerer of Bluffton, SC, Keith (Brenda) Kammerer of Hampstead, NC,
and Kris (Joan) Kammerer of Williamstown, NJ. She leaves her legacy of
beloved grandchildren (and their spouses): Courtney (Travis) Goforth of
Greer, SC, Jeffrey Kammerer of Marlton, NJ, and Derek Kammerer of
Charlotte, NC, Brandon (Rebecca) Wileman of Rocky Point, NC, AJ (Emily)
Kammerer of Hampstead, NC, and David (Andrea) Kammerer of Raleigh, NC, Kole Kammerer and Konner
Kammerer both of San Diego, CA, and her great grandchildren: Natalie, Elsie, Ainsley, Tallulah, Bodhi,
Maverick and Gabriella. Doris is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Kammerer Hampson of Fort
Myers, Florida, nephew Steve (Susie) Hampson of Lexington, Kentucky, and nieces Linda (Chris) Ryan of
Fort Myers, Florida and Nancy (Kevin) Ryan of Penfield, New York, and their families.


Doris is most remembered for her quiet yet cheerful nature as a wife, mother and grandmother who
enjoyed sailing, traveling, needlework, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Allan spent
their ‘Golden Years’ happily touring the country in their motorhome, Work-camping and exploring in
such places as Yellowstone, the Carolinas, California, and Alaska.


Having grown up in Belleville, NJ, Doris graduated from The Presbyterian Hospital of Newark, NJ in 1957
with a degree in Nursing and later received her license as a Registered Nurse. She worked for the former
Burlington County Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly, NJ. Doris and her late husband were members of the
Willingboro and Toms River Presbyterian Churches. They were longtime members of the Beachwood
Yacht Club. Doris was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.


Doris will be laid to rest at the Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina, with her late
husband Allan. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in
Doris’s memory would be gratefully received by the Alzheimer's Association (https://act.alz.org).
