Dorothy Fay Nai

Dorothy Fay Nai (née Clark) passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on December 30, 2019 at the age of 89 in Bluffton, SC.

Dorothy, known as “Dot” to those who loved her, was born in Lynn, MA in 1930 to James and Claire Clark and was one of seven children. Dot graduated from Lynn English High School in 1947 and immediately began working. After having children, Dot began her career as a claims adjustor, and eventually a claims supervisor, at Peerless Insurance Company until her retirement in 1985.

Dot married her late husband John Nai Sr. in 1951, with whom she shared 67 years of loving marriage and 3 children with. They raised their family in Danvers, MA and spent 50 happy summers at their camp at Lake Cobbosseecontee in Litchfield, ME. They spent their retirement years in Hilton Head, SC where they enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with close friends Cal and Carol Boston, Joanne Klose, and many others. 

Dot is survived by her children Debra and husband Robert “Butch” Dzierzak of SC, Dean Nai of NH, and John Nai Jr. and wife Elise Nai of CA. She is also survived by her sister Linda Stevens. She leaves behind her grandchildren Amy Jones and husband Charles, Courtney Toombs and husband Matt, Chris Nai and wife Bridget, Tim Nai, Allison Nai, and Jeremy Nai. Dot was blessed with six great-grandchildren as well (Savannah and Taylor Jones, Brady and Madelyn Toombs, and Max and Francesca Nai) who loved and adored her almost as much as she loved and adored them. Dot was preceded in death by her late husband John Nai; her late sisters Alice Cook, Cynthia Leighton, Rita Muchmore, and Patricia Brady; her late brother Robert Clarke; and her sister-in-law Marion Dell.

Dot was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, godmother, and friend to those fortunate enough to have known her, and will be greatly missed by all.

Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton SC is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dot’s favorite charity, the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
