Doug Doucette Obituary

Doug Doucette, 83, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2020.  He is survived by his wife, Frances Benichak Doucette,  Kim and Kathy Doucette, Deborah Doucette Elnahas; grandchildren Alia, Hatem and Adam Elnahas, and Nora Elnahas; and brother David Doucette in California.

Born in Bridgeport, CT to Leona Jewell Doucette & Arthur Doucette of Stratford, CT.  After high school, he joined the Marines and was stationed at 29 Palms in California.  He returned back to Stratford, where he met and married Frances Benichak in 1960.

He is a long time resident of Stratford, CT, employed by Drywall Associates and later established his own company, DoKo Construction.

His hobbies were many, but gardening and pigeon racing were his favorites.  He belonged to Valley Pigeon Club, where he won many trophies for racing.  He was famous for his Memorial Day and Fourth of July parties, and always welcomed friends to his home.  His gardening expertise was great, he was known as the Tomato Man on Oronoque Lane in Stratford.

In 2001, he and his wife, Frances, moved to Santee, SC, where they enjoyed the benefits of lake front living, with fishing and boating.  Years later, he and his wife moved to Sun City where they retired.  Life kept him busy with little projects, but happy times were with his family and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Wounded Warriors Project.
