Edward W. Ondecko

May 26, 1927 – August 19, 2021

Edward William Ondecko, age 94, of Sun City Hilton Head, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 19, 2021.  Ed, AKA “Putte” and “Opa” as he was affectionately known to many was born in Danbury, CT on May 26, 1927 to Anna Zerulaic and John Ondecko.  He was predeceased by his wife Margot of 65 years.

Ed leaves behind three daughters; Virginia Nelson (Craig) of Milford, Ct, Lorraine Albrecht (Dave) of Sun City, SC and Melinda Young (Allen) of Sun City, SC, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Ed was a World War II Army Veteran who was an MP and Sharpshooter and served in Berlin.  He retired after a 37 year career as the manager of production control for Helicopter Research and Development programs for Sikorsky Aircraft, Stratford, CT. 

Ed was a 60 year member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge # 8, Stratford, CT.  He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and life member and Past Potentate (1994) of the Shriner Pyramid Temple #9 of Milford, CT.  His motto was “The Shrine will soar in ‘94”.

Funeral Services will be held at Saul’s Funeral home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910 on August 31, 2021 at 11:00am.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in his name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children via website:  donorrelations@shrinenet.org.
