Ethel Cobb Obituary

Ethel Beatrice Cobb, also known as Bea or Babe to many, died peacefully on August 26th in her Bluffton home, after a short illness.  Bea was born in DeQueen, Arkansas to Harold and Beulah Weeks.  Bea was a spirited child and adult.  Her gift of gab started at a very young age as did her adventurous nature.

She married an Army career man her late husband, Wesley Cobb and had four children, William Cobb now deceased, Lillie Pagani, Cindy Johnson, and Steve Cobb.

Bea traveled the world with her family at many different ages to Army posts in Japan and Germany and across the USA.  She started writing poetry at a very early age and was overjoyed when she published a book of her works in 2013, Roses of the Mind, with the help of her dear friend and fellow author, Arthur Thornhill.

After her husband died, Bea went to college and attained her degree at 70 years old.  She was very proud of the accomplishment and met many lasting friends from professors to fellow students.

In addition to her husband and oldest son, she was preceded in death by all her younger siblings, Edward, William, and Harold Weeks, and Barbara Huddleston.

Grandma Bea loved being grandmother to Wes Johnson and Tammy-Cobb-Cleghorn.  But she also became everyone’s grandma that entered her life and she referred to herself often as grandma.

We will miss her endless stories and rhyming words.  Her independent nature kept her living alone in her home until very recently.

A special thank you for the loving care during the past few weeks from Friends of Caroline Hospice Care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bea’s memory may be made to the GoJenGo Foundation at GoJenGo.org.

Funeral:  11:00 AM; Saturday; September 3, 2022 at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, SC.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Private Burial:  Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL at a later date.
