Foxhall "Fox" Parker Obituary

Foxhall “Fox” Alexander Parker of Bluffton, South Carolina passed away on November 19, 2021 at his home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Fox was born in Washington, D.C. on November 22, 1949. He was the youngest son of Richard “Dick” Parker and Charlotte (Auger) Parker. He was a proud U.S. Marine and served in the Vietnam War.  While in Vietnam, he served as Sergeant, MAC-4 MAW, Monkey Mountain at Danang. After his time in the military, Fox returned to Virginia where he graduated from George Mason University. He spent 33 years as a federal government employee before retiring from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Office of Inspector General (FDIC) in 2001 to start his own consulting firm. On August 26, 2005, Fox married his wife, Charlene Miller, of 16 years. In 2014, he retired from his successful consulting firm and relocated to Bluffton, South Carolina to fulfill his retirement dreams of golf, travel, and community service.

Fox was a loving husband and a devoted father and had many special friendships. He had a magnetic personality, infectious smile, and most of all a sense of humor that lit up any room. Fox believed the three most important things in life were God, family and friends. He was a devout Catholic, and he supported the church and various charities.

Fox was a proud, patriotic and passionate Marine (Semper Fidelis) who continued to give back to his fellow service members long after his tour of duty in Vietnam. He was an ardent supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, a Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) - Post 8760, Life member of American Veterans, Veterans of Sun City, and the American Legion. He was an active member of his community and regularly volunteered for various organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, served on the Board of Adaptive Golf Experience, Second Helpings, and Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School’s golf program. He was a Life member of the Jamestowne Society, Membership Director for the Men’s Golf Association of Sun City, and President of the Gunston Soccer Club in the late 1990s, helping to introduce hundreds of children to the game of soccer.

Fox was preceded in death by his father, Richard, and his mother, Charlotte. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlene Miller Parker, his two children, Foxhall “Alex” and his wife Becca, Erin, stepson David Lederman, sister Sarah Josephson, brother William “Bill” Parker, his cousins, nieces, nephews, and many in-laws from the Miller family (or as Fox would call them “the outlaws”). Fox was very excited to welcome his first granddaughter in December.
