Frank Ernst Mead

Frank Ernst Mead, 84 of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away at home on March 12, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Bayonne, NJ on July 4, 1936 to Gertrude and George Mead.

He served in the US Army from 1954-1956.  After he met and married his wife, Marion in 1959, he worked for the Millburn, New Jersey Police Department, as a patrolman until his retirement.  He owned and operated the Frank E. Mead Window Washing Service Inc. for 30 years. He was also an active member of St. Rose of Lima Knights of Columbus Council 6386.

During his retirement, he served as Eucharist Minister at several churches including St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills, St. Pius X, Lacey Township, and St. Gregory the Great Church, Bluffton South Carolina.

In Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey, Frank was a member of the Lanoka Harbor EMS.  Upon moving to South Carolina, he volunteered as a patrol driver for the Sun City Safety & Service,  an active member of the Veterans Association, and the Low Country Retired Law Enforcement Organization.

Frank adored his family and leaves behind his wife Marion of 61 years, daughters Kathleen Caprio (John) of Scotch Plains, NJ, Karen Eisnaugle (Chris), of Las Vegas, NV, Susan Mazzitelli (Matt) of Yardley, PA and Jennifer Travis (Charlie), of Wake Forest, NC, and his sister Helen (Ella) Montague of Randolph, New Jersey  and was predeceased by his brother George Mead.

He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Jonathan, Kaitlin, Ryan, Kevin, Allison, Aidan, Evan, Lauren Erin, Madelyn, and three great-grandchildren Ava, James and Nathan.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton, South Carolina on March 16th. A private memorial service for family only will be held at a later date in New Jersey.
