Frank Louis Salemo, age 86, of Bluffton, SC and New York City passed away on March 26, 2021 at Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA.
Mr. Salemo was born in New York City to the late Anthony Salemo and Anna Piegare Salemo.
Mr. Salemo retired as a New York Police Officer; he was a US Navy veteran of Korea where he served as a Rescue Helicopter Pilot and received the Navy Achievement Medal. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He was a great story teller who loved people and was the life of the party.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Salemo of Bluffton; his sons, John J. Salemo (Karen) of Angler, NC and Frank A. Salemo (Dina) of East Isup, Long Island New York; his daughter Helen Nelson of Bohemia, Long Island, New York; his grandchildren, Jake Salemo, Kyle Salemo, Joseph Salemo, Michael Nelson and Sara Massaro; and his great grandchildren, Logan Nelson, Reese Massaro and John Massaro. He was predeceased by his sister, Frances Salemo Coltelli and his niece, Joan Coltelli.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until Noon on Thursday, April 1, 2020 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC. Graveside Military Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC. Masks and social distancing are requested at both Sauls Funeral Home and Beaufort National Cemetery.
