Fred Silverman Obituary

On Christmas Day Fred J. Silverman walked quietly, peacefully into the arms of God. He was blessed to die at home with his wife Maryanne at his bedside. He died as he lived wrapped in her love. They shared 46 beautiful years. Fred is survived by his beloved wife Maryanne Haley Silverman; his precious children, Marc (Lili), Sheryl Silverman Refaat (Adham, Ali) Lori Silverman Vasisht (Gautam, Maya) his dearly loved stepsons Brian Okonski (Julie), Dreux Okonski (Leslie) and the 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren that he and Maryanne shared and loved. Fred was predeceased by his parents Al and Anne Stillman Silverman, his former wife Freda Bulkin, his stepson Craig Okonski and great grandbaby Kaitlin.

Fred was a highly respected Attorney for over 60 years in Pennsylvania. He was actively involved in many service organizations and acted as President for some. He served his country in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Fred and Maryanne loved to travel, dance and celebrate life together. In 2006 they moved to Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina and immediately fell in love with their new home. Fred jumped into the many activities offered there. He was involved in theater, chorus, clogging, ukulele club and his great love, the barbershop group. He played golf when he had a spare minute. He delighted in his new surroundings. Fred became active in his spiritual life at St. Gregory the Great parish and originally served as a Lector until joining the choir. He had a beautiful tenor voice and used his gift with great enthusiasm.

In all, his was a life well lived. He has chosen to be laid to rest as he lived gently, quietly and privately. He was soaked in the love of his family and forever held in the arms of his Lord. He will be missed and loved forever.
