Frederick J Finn

Frederick John Finn, age 78, of Sun City Hilton Head, SC passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at his home with assistance from hospice.

Fred was an inspiration to all that knew him during his battle with multiple myeloma over the past seven years. Over the past two weeks, he was able to have meaningful talks with family. He was a wonderful husband to Dale Finn; a fantastic father to son, Patrick Finn of Columbus, OH and daughter, Colleen Kelly (John) of Durham, NC. He adored and had a very close relationship with his granddaughter, Kara Kelly, age 13. He was also an extraordinary brother to Andrew Finn (Deborah) of Midland, MI and Theodore Finn (Janet) of Prairie du Chien, WI.  

Fred was born June 7, 1941 in Bay City, MI to the late George Finn and Agnes Beck Finn. After serving two years in the US Army, he worked his career in materials management for automotive and air-conditioning companies.

15 years ago, he and Dale moved from OH to SC. Fred loved his retirement from the beginning. His passion was golfing, and staying active every day. He was a very spiritual man and believed in helping others. He volunteered in meeting people from the Programs for Exceptional People and had fun showing them how to golf. He was a missionary for many years to the Dominican Republic, organizing and working with a construction team building Episcopal churches. He enjoyed being a world traveler and had an excellent sense of humor.

A celebration of life will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church of Hilton Head on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 1:00 PM.  Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Volunteers in Medicine of Hilton Head (https://vimclinic.org/donations/make-a-donation/).
