Gerda Daniello

Gerda I. Daniello, 96, of Bluffton, formerly of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on November 26, 2019. 

Gerda is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Daniello) Taylor, and granddaughter, Josefina (“Joey”) Daniello, and her “little rascal”, Titan.  She was predeceased by her parents, Hermann and Josefine Kudwien, her husband, Frank R. Daniello, her son, Dana F. Daniello, and her brother, Herbert Kudwien. 

Gerda was born in Lünen, Germany on January 12, 1923.  She met her future husband towards the end of WWII while he was in the U.S. Army stationed in Berchtesgaden, Germany.  She came to America a couple of years after the war ended, and they got married in Norwalk, CT.  Gerda worked for Southern New England Telephone Co. until they adopted their first child, Deborah.  At that time she became a stay at home mom and homemaker, adopting their son, Dana, two years later.  They lived in Ridgefield, CT until retiring to Hilton Head Island in the late 1980s. 

The family wishes to thank Senior Helpers of Bluffton and Tidewater Hospice for the excellent professional care delivered with love and compassion in the care of their mother/grandmother. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations to Tidewater Hospice (CHA Foundation c/o Tidewater Hospice, 10 Buckingham Plantation Drive, Bluffton, SC 29910), your local Alzheimer’s Association, Rogue Rescue & Sanctuary (P.O. Box 1643, Bluffton, SC 29910), Jasper Animal Rescue Mission (1352 Carters Mill Road, Ridgeland, SC 29936), or your local animal rescue/shelter. 

There will be no calling hours.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
