Greg Conran, aged 63 of Bluffton, passed away on June 24th, 2020 at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
Born in London on January 19th 1957, and growing up in the South East of the UK, Greg later graduated from University of Wales Cardiff and began a 35 year career in the oil and gas industry. Greg spent much of his life travelling the world with his work and became a pillar of the industry, living in Holland, Egypt, Dubai and Houston, before building a life for retirement in Hampton Lake with his wife, Alison.
A keen photographer, Greg was first vice president of the Photography Club of Beaufort, and also an active member of Hilton Head Camera Club and Low-Country coordinator for the Carolinas Nature Photographers Association. Greg made a name for himself photographing both family gatherings and club events around the Hampton Lake community.
Following his diagnosis, Greg took a role chairing the group "Cancer Sucks". His positivity and determination never faltered, and impacted on so many. Those who had the privilege of knowing Greg will remember him for his integrity, passion and humility.
Being a Trans-Atlantic family never stopped Greg showing his pride and love for his children and grandchildren, and family meant everything to him. Greg drove everyone he met to be the best they could, taking every opportunity available to them.
Greg is survived by his wife of 36 years, Alison, children Gwilym and Megan, their partners Karen and Nick, Grandchildren Zoey, Marcus and Oscar, and his sister Tracy.
A much-loved husband, Dad, Grandad, friend, teacher and mentor, Greg is a loss to the family, the community, the industry and to humanity. Greg touched more lives than he would ever truly know with his wit, tenacity, drive, wisdom and generosity. He will be sorely missed, but remembered by so many.
