Gregory Scott Crum, December 9, 1962 – May 5, 2022, Okatie, South Carolina – Our beloved Greg passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by love, after a courageous, seven-month battle with cancer. Greg was born in Berea, Ohio to Richard Niven Crum and Mary Belle Perry. His family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida when he was a toddler and Greg considered this area to be his “hometown.” Upon graduation, he entered the United States Navy and was fortunate to travel the world. After six years in the military, Greg began his career as a PGA Golf Professional working at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, SC. He then began caddying at Secession Golf Club in Beaufort, SC before landing his dream job as Caddie master. For the last twenty-five years, Greg has been the first face seen by thousands of members and guests as they arrive at Secession Golf Club. His exceptional personality, positive attitude and genuine warmth touched the lives of friends and strangers alike. Greg was honored to receive the PGA TaylorMade-Adidas Golf-Assistant Professional of the Year Award in 2016 for demonstrating a high level of excellence at Secession Golf Club. Greg loved his job and his family fiercely. Greg believed in the goodness of all he met and believed in second chances. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Niven Crum and Mary Belle Perry as well as brother, Vincent Hayes Crum. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Morrison, son and best friend Campbell Scott Crum, daughter Kyleigh Ann Hayden Crum, sister Tina Marie Crum, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A very important mentor, that Greg held in the highest regard, deserves mention here as well. And that is Michael Harmon. We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to all who supported us during this difficult time of need. As Greg always said when departing, “Fairways and Greens.” His was a life well-played. Visitation will take place at 12:00 (noon) Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910, followed by a 2:00 pm military service at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC 29902. All are welcome to our family home after the service.
