H Charles (Chuck) Ford, age 86, of Hilton Head, South Carolina, died peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife, Maggie Ford, and family. Born August 26, 1935 in Homestead, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late H Charles Ford II and Margaret Ford (Garraway). Chuck earned his undergraduate degree from Grove City College and a master’s degree from Temple University.
Chuck had a distinguished career as an HR Executive and Operations GM in the pharmaceutical industry working for some of the industry leaders in the Philadelphia region as well as Sanford, North Carolina, and numerous international assignments. Chuck had the unique ability to work with people from board level to team members in production operations, treating them with equal respect.
Chuck enjoyed baseball and softball, playing for years and coaching his children’s teams to many championships. He and Maggie loved to travel the world. He was an ardent cyclist, a serious tennis player, a fair golfer frustrated forever by his handicap. He was an avid reader, a certified Naturalist, and enjoyed playing bridge. He was also a skilled diver and on one occasion (not 2) a fearless bungee jumper. Spending time on the beach with family and friends was his favorite activity. Chuck had a lot to offer and gave freely of his time to many boards and nonprofit organizations.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Maggie Ford, along with two sons and their wives; Michael and Helen Ford of Perkasie, PA, Mark Ford and Stephanie Hughes of Lafayette, CO, daughter-in-law Denise Ford of Pittsburgh, PA, nine grandchildren, Alex Ford, Hilary Wisniewski, Erika Hart, Mitch Ford, Kristin Hackett, Kyle Ford, Jack Ford, Peter Ford, Marguerite Ford, one great grandchild, Elliott Hackett, and his brother Bill Ford, as well as other family members. He is preceded in death by his son, Barry Ford.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 am at Sauls Funeral Home located at 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton SC.
