Helen Mann Porter Register, age 95, of Hardeeville, SC, entered her Heavenly home on September 20, 2022.
Helen was born in Mulberry, Florida, the eldest daughter of the late Reverend Dewey Mann and the late Mrs. Lucille Mann.
Helen spent most of her adult life in Perry, FL; she was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, where she also served as the secretary for 18 years.
She was married 35 years to Robert Kay Porter, until his death in 1982. She married Samuel Register in 1989, and remained so until his death in 2002.
Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Mann Reddick and survived by her sister, Betty Mann Hughes (Colorado).
Helen was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sue Porter Fleming and her son Brad Porter. She is survived by her daughters, Robin Porter Vinson (Danny) of Indiana, Julie Porter Swanda (Tony) of Texas, and Cindy Porter Brown (Dale) of South Carolina.
She is also survived by step-sons, Samuel Register, Jr. (Sandy) and Thomas Register, both of Florida.
She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, as well as great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Helen will certainly be remembered as a strong, devout Christian woman. She leaves behind a great legacy of faith!
Helen’s funeral service will be in Perry, FL at Joe P. Burns’ Funeral Home Chapel. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, R. Kay Porter in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Helen’s memory be given to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, P.O. Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910.
