Irene Everingham 86, of Bluffton SC, passed away on December 27th unexpectedly.
Irene was born on April 22, 1936 to Helen and Welty Frye in Crabtree, PA. After growing up on an active dairy farm Irene left her quiet country life and ventured to the big city to attend The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and pursue her love of art. For the shy country girl that she was this was a huge adventure. After graduating art school, Irene accepted a position at Gimbels department store as a fashion illustrator. This is where she met her future husband, Thompson Everingham.
Irene and Thompson were soon married and started their family. Irene is survived by her three children, Catherine A. Stiteler of Bluffton, SC, Thomas J. Everingham of Santa Cruz, CA and James R. Everingham of Ross, CA. She is also survived by her son-in-law, James T. Stiteler and three grandchildren, Lauren A. Stiteler of Ben Lomond, CA, Ross Stiteler of Henderson, NV and Marielle R. Stiteler of Bluffton, SC. The newest loves of her life are her great grandchildren Lyla and Leo Stiteler of Henderson, NV.
Irene’s passions were her art and nature, especially the wild birds and animals who came to her door daily looking for her. Irene continued her painting until her last days, lovingly producing beautiful oil paintings of the low country, nature and still-life arrangements. Her favorite subject to paint was beautiful luminous skies with billowy clouds. Her art has been shown and sold in galleries throughout the country.
Irene was kind and so well loved. She will be missed by everyone who knew her, and missed terribly by her family. She is proceeded in death by her husband Thompson Everingham. Her generous heart will never be forgotten.
