Irvin Seger Obituary

Irvin Carl Seger, 76, passed away on August 22, 2022, at his home in Rose Hill Plantation in Bluffton, SC. He is survived by his wife Annie, his daughter Careyann, and his granddaughter Madison.

Irv was born on September 19, 1945, in Waukegan, IL, and was the son of the late Irvin Curtis Seger and Margret Seger. He was one of five children including his two sisters Marilyn and Kathy, his brother Patrick, and his late brother Dean.

Irv attended North Chicago Community High School and graduated from Southern Illinois University. He loved history and archeology and became a History Teacher for a brief time.

Irv decided to move to South Florida, and he pursued a career in construction in the early 1970s, where he met Annie and married in 1974. Irv and Annie were married for 48 years. He was a wonderful husband and father. He was excellent at his profession and built many residential and commercial properties in the area. He also worked at Sea Ranch Club of Boca where he received a standing ovation when he retired.

He was a proud Moose member and enjoyed bowling, the dog track, and spending time with his late brother-in-law Ronnie Bryant.

The light of his life was his granddaughter Madison, whom he loved so very much. Always by his side, he was the best grandpa in the world and her best friend. The two of them loved to have fun, eat out, travel, and get into trouble. He called himself “Fearless Leader” and enjoyed wearing his plastic king crown around the house especially after discovering he is the 23rd Earl of Kendall, a town in Northern England.

He loved the Chicago Bears, and his granddaughter Madison is sure to continue his love for the team. Irv loved Perry Mason, fishing, golf, and a good who-dun-it.

They moved to Bluffton, SC in 2000 where he was semi-retired, but still built their home and several others in the area. He decided retirement life was not for him and started working at the Port Royal YMCA until 2022. He was a hard worker his entire life. Irv enjoyed the people and the good friends he made here in Bluffton.

Irv really enjoyed his many visits to Ireland, exploring the pubs and laughing with his friends, Bob & Kathy Brownlie, and their boys Jim, Gordon, and Bryce. He had hoped to spend more time in Ireland.

He had lifelong friends that he knew since grade school including Dennis Mateta, Wayne Morrissey, Donnie Gildea, Preston Carter, Al Baker, Billy Marsh, Ronney Chumley, Ray Magiera, and college friends Jerry Koncan, Jeff Moll, Bob Rosemeyer, and Bob Brownlie,

He was a wonderful uncle to his nephews Robbie Burton, Michael Morrissey, Shawn Seger, Scott Seger, Dean Seger, niece Heather Morrissey, and many great nieces and nephews.

He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
