James Charles Bacon, 89, of Bluffton, SC died on November 21, 2022 at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, after several months of fighting kidney/heart problems.
James was born on September 3, 1933 in San Diego, California to the late William and Loretta Bacon. He graduated from L.A. High School and went into the Marines where he earned several medals.
He spent his working career in the areas of sales and marketing. As a corporate level product manager, he was a member of the team that invented cordless tools. Friends encouraged him to run for a political office but he always responded to them by saying, “I’ll be an Indian but not the Chief.” Always good natured and helpful, when asked, he umpired soft pitch ball, even though he didn’t know the rules.
James and his beloved wife Nancy have been married for over forty years. Together they renovated a 100 year old Victorian home in Delaware, Ohio. They moved to Sun City in 1996 and James enjoyed driving his 1931 Model A Ford Towne Car around the neighborhood.
Survivors: wife Nancy; three children, Connie Jenkins, Greg Bacon, Gary Bacon; sister Pat Whipple; grandchildren and numerous friends.
