James Simmons, Jr., 71 years old, of Hardeeville, SC, passed away on August 1, 2022. James was born on December 24, 1950, to Ernestine and James Simmons, Sr. in Bluffton, SC.
James graduated from Michael C. Riley School in Bluffton. He worked at Union Camp, where through hard work, he was promoted to a managerial position. He also worked as a longshoreman until he retired.
James had four children, James II, Jaden, Rosa Lee, and Vince. He enjoyed fishing and raising his goats and chicken.
On February 24, 1975, James was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Bayonne, NJ. He was a man of deep faith who loved his God Jehovah above all. He had absolute confidence in the resurrection hope and he will see you all again in the new world.
James was predeceased by Ernestine and James Simmons, Sr., and his daughter, Rosa Lee Whitehead. He is survived by his three sons, 12 year old James II, 8 year old Jaden, and 18 year old Vince. He is also survived by two sisters, Ethel M. Grant of Bluffton and Sarah E. Washington of Levy, SC; his aunt, Rose Ella Bryant of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
