James "Bernard" Smith

James Bernard Smith (Bernard), age 73, of Early Branch, passed away at Coastal Carolina Hospital, Hardeeville, SC on April 9, 2021.

Bernard was born in Ridgeland, SC on June 5, 1947 to the late James Blake Smith and Myrtle G. Rowell Smith.

Bernard was a US Army Veteran who was stationed in Germany for two years and a member of the Pine Level Baptist Church.  He was a mechanic for Robert Cope Farm Equipment and former Manager of Associates Northwest Grounds Maintenance Company.  Bernard enjoyed Antique Car shows and was an antique car enthusiast.

Bernard is survived by his brothers, Marvin Smith (Dianna) and Ben Joe Smith all of Grays; one sister, Geneva Smith of Grays; two nieces, Dana Boyles and Ashley Harriott; one nephew, Blake Smith, great nieces, Gabrielle Boyles, Sydney Harriott and great nephews, Mark Boyles III, Charlie Smith, Tucker Harriott, Jasper Smith and Beau Harriott.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 13, 2021, Graveside in Grimes Cemetery until the hour of service at 3:00 pm. Rev. Franklin Smith will be presiding.
