James "Jim" Livingston Obituary

James “Jim” R. Livingston passed away on February 16, 2020, at his home with his family by his side.   He was born June 9, 1938, in Blue Diamond, KY to parents Ray and Stella Livingston (deceased).  He married Sheila St. Pierre in 1982 in Sumter, SC, adding to his family, step-son Nicholas Lopez.  Jim has two daughters Kimberly Livingston and Stephanie Wiseman (Mark Wiseman); (their mother: Sylvia Joan Livingston) and a special friend to the family, Dean Harry.  He is also blessed to have grandchildren Lacy Sauls (Henry), Kacey Culberson (deceased), Lindsey Lopez, and Kennedy Lopez; (their mother: Paige Willis). Jim has a host of cousins including special relatives Joe and Lita Brown, (Johnson City, TN); Paul, Karen, Lauren, and Sam Goodyear (Centennial, Co), and Doug, Vicki, and Stephanie Stephens (Cary, NC).  Jim loved his large New Orleans-area family of in-laws and they love him. In fact, Jim was his mother-in-law’s favorite son-in-law, (family joke)!  A very special four-legged pet that will greatly miss Jim is Bailey.

Jim embraced life, family, friends and business with a high level of energy and enthusiasm inspiring others to succeed as well.  A Realty friend and personal assistant, Michelle Sells, said that it had been an honor and pleasure to work with him, and he just wasn’t someone she worked for but a part of her family.  He began in the tire industry at Dayton Tire in Dayton, OH.  While with Dayton Tire he moved to various cities in South Carolina and eventually became an independent business owner:  Cardinal Tire, Sumter, SC; Palmetto Tire Service, Florence SC, and Weichert Realty Coastal Properties, Bluffton, SC.  Through his affiliation with Michelin Tire, he received numerous awards for his outstanding sales performance.  He was a five-time recipient of the Paul Harris Humanitarian Award and was twice elected President of the Sumter and Florence, SC Rotary Club.  Jim was an automobile enthusiast; he also enjoyed boating, fishing, cast net shrimping, and spectator sports: especially Kentucky basketball.  Jim attended Eastern Kentucky State University taking Sales and Management courses via National Tire Dealer/Retreaders Association, Michelin, Bridgestone-Firestone and Bandag Retread Company.  Best of all, Jim was a loving father, grandfather and a devoted husband.
