Jack Ronald Harrington, age 85, of Bluffton SC, died at his home on Friday April 30.
Jack was born in Sugar Creek, MO. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1958 and was a huge fan of Jayhawk basketball. He entered the Air Force after graduation and was on active duty for nine years. He served one tour in Viet Nam as a forward air controller, where he earned two Distinguished Flying Crosses, a Bronze Star and 16 Air Medals. He served in the Air Force Reserves for fourteen years and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Jack also flew for Trans World Airlines for 24 years and retired as a Captain in 1991. He and his wife of 52 years, retired to Hilton Head so they could be on vacation for the rest of their lives. They continued to travel the world, visiting all 7 continents.
Survivors include his wife Lynn, daughter Jill, son-in-law Richard and dear grandson Caleb, all who live together in Bluffton.
Per Jack's request, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, should you wish to make a donation, Jack's favorite organizations were "K9s for Warriors" and "Wounded Warriors", or any military organization that you prefer.
