John P Lavelle, Sr.

John Patrick Lavelle Sr, age 79, of Bluffton, SC passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.

John was born on November 5^th, 1940 in Plainfield, NJ, the son of Irish immigrants, Michael Vincent Lavelle and Elizabeth Dougherty Lavelle.  He retired as a VP of finance from Michigan Hanger/Erico in 2000 after many years of service.  He then moved to Sun City in Bluffton, SC with his wife to begin their golden years.  He was a member of St. Gregory the Great choir, Sun City Barbershop, Mary Green Chorale, participated in many productions with the Sun City Community Theatre and the May River theatre.  He was a member of the Sun City cloggers and performed in many Rainbow of Rhythms.  John also loved to swim, work out, golf and his favorite; traveling around the world.  He was very well known and respected among the Sun City community.

John was preceded in death by his son, John Lavelle Jr., daughter Donna Lavelle, two brothers Mike and Robert, and two sisters Betty and Vera.  He is survived by his loving wife Norma Lavelle, stepsons, Scott (Joe) and Earl (Donna) Fralick of Columbus, OH, stepdaughters, Lyndsay Cox of West Virginia and Kati (Randy) Cox of Alabama, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday August 3^rd, 2020 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 Saint Gregory Drive, Bluffton, SC 29910.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church Bereavement Committee.
