John Lewis Clemmer, Jack to all, passed away at the age of 91 on October 21, 2019 at his home in Ridgeland after a long illness.
Jack was born in Augusta, GA on September 25, 1928 to the late Russell Hobart Clemmer Sr. and Miriam Elizabeth Carter Clemmer. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife and shrimping partner, Dot and his brother, Russell H. Clemmer Jr.
Jack was first employed by Smith Ford Tractor Company of Ridgeland where he gained the experience to later become the founding partner of Double C Tractor Company. He continued his career as the owner of Clemmer’s Garage and was known for his ability to fix anything. He honorably served in the United States National Guard until 1961. He was a member of the Ridgeland Masonic Lodge #98 in Ridgeland; former member of Abundant Life Church and Lowcountry Community Church of Bluffton; loved Clemson football and the Atlanta Braves.
Jack is survived by his son, John Lewis ‘Jay’ Clemmer Jr. (Julie) of Ridgeland; and his grandchildren, whom he supported in all their activities, Justin Phillip Clemmer (Hayley) and Jeremy Michael Clemmer; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at Noon on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland until the hour of the service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Ridgeland Cemetery.
