John (Jack) Louis Seurynck, 85, husband of Constance (Connie) Getsinger Seurynck, passed away Monday, May 4th, 2020 in Columbia, SC. He was born in Marine City, Michigan on November 2, 1934 to the late Thomas and Ottolynn Seurynck. He had four siblings; James (Earlene) Seurynck, Jeanne (Richard) Chartier, Joseph (Kay) Seurynck and the late Joanne (Chet) Kuberski. He began his career in education as a biology teacher and coach at Ridgeland High School in Ridgeland, South Carolina. In 1970 he moved his family to Columbia to take a position at the Department of Education where he retired as the Associate Superintendent of Education for South Carolina after 32 years of service. His true passion was his family. He relished every baseball game, dance recital, track meet, tennis match, swim meet and drama production. His infamous whistle always confirmed his enthusiasm, love and support. For over 40 years, he was an active member of The Basilica of Saint Peter Catholic Church and served in many ministries. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and could recall countless statistics and loved checking in with many friends on Facebook. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, his daughters; Kerri (Tom) Doud, Kirsten (Ellis)Mack, Kimberly (Paul) Brown, and grandchildren; John (Abigail), Adam, Reagan (Chris), and Hayden Doud; McKenzie Mack; Reilly (Britta), Elisabeth, Jack, and Mayme Brown; and great grandchild, Catterton Doud.
